How can I ensure I’m getting best value for money from the Recruitment Company I’m working with?
Having worked in the Recruitment Industry for the past 30 years, I know the quality of service offering provided by Recruitment Companies can vary dramatically.
Quite often end users of recruitment services aren’t fully aware of what quality of service they are receiving and how that service is procured. Sometimes issues might not be clear to you as the end user which can have an impact on the hiring result such as:
- Is the Recruitment Consultancy taking independent verbal or written references on the candidates they are putting forward? If so, when are they taking them (if possible before you interview the candidate not at offer stage) and what information are they going to provide? Are the verbal references taken from the right people. i.e their direct superior rather than a peer reference or close colleague?
- How are the Recruitment Agency going to find someone for you? Are they just going to post adverts on LinkedIn or online job boards? Is that what you want?
- What happens if the Recruitment Agency presents candidates you already know or have interviewed previously? What vetting procedures are they undertaking before forwarding the suitable cv’s to you?
Most of the disputes we deal with are a result of assumption. Read the Terms of Business, make sure you fully understand who is going to do what, when and how before you enter into any agreement with a third party.
